Audio Ramblings
If you're using those stock iPod earphones and
crunching as much music as you can down into that mp3 player of yours,
you're not getting the full audio experience. The type of
headphones/earphones you use and how much you pay for them make a world
of difference in listening to music. The compression or size of
your Mp3s also affect how good it sounds. Here's some random
facts about audio.........
- CDs are considered the highest quality in terms of digital music,
it's sampling rate is approxmately 320 kps, a normal Mp3 is encoded at
128 kps. With good headphones and no backgraound noise the
difference is quite noticeable, but 320 kps takes up much more space
than 128 kps songs. Quality vs. Quantity.
- Equalizers on music players artificially manipulate the audio
signal to produce a certain sound. So in a sense what you hear is
not really the real piece of music.
- iPod earphones get the job done, but sounds horrible when there
are other much better options. They are free though, that's
really about it.
