About Me
For 2008-2009, I have been a Visiting Professor
at Salisbury
University in Salisbury, MD, in the Department
of Mathematics and Computer Science. I'll be continuing at
SU for at least 2009-2010. You can find me there as follows (although
the website mostly points back to this site):
Email: gekeough@salisbury.edu
Website: http://faculty.salisbury.edu/~gekeough
You can find out a little more about me professionally
from my current CV.
What I was doing before I joined the Salisbury Faculty
After six years as Chair of the Mathematics Department
at Boston College, my family and I chose to leave New England
in 2007 and we relocated to lower Delaware. I'm not returning
to BC, despite a professional relationship that's lasted 30 years,
and an overall relationship that dates back to my undergraduate
days at BC that began in 1968.
I enjoyed a sabbatical during 2007-2008. My major
project for that year was working with Paul R. Thie on An
Introduction to Linear Programming and Game Theory, Third Edition,
which was published by John Wiley and Sons, Inc., in July, 2008.
I have a picture available of the
cover design. I've also written some software
to accompany the new edition that may be of interest.
I have worked with Gerald G. Bilodeau and Paul R.
Thie on a second edition of their text An Introduction to
Analysis, originally published by McGraw-Hill in 1997. Finally,
my regular band of coauthors and I worked on new (third) editions
of Getting Started with Mathematica and Getting Started
with Maple. These are now in print with John Wiley &
Sons (see the news below).
What I'm doing at Salisbury University, a Maryland University
of National Distinction
In addition to teaching classes in College Algebra and
Calculus at SU last Fall, I was able to clean up some
publication activities that were put in motion during last year's
sabbatical.
I taught the same classes at SU this past Spring semester, and
I'll be continuing at SU for the 2009-2010 academic year. (I've
scheduled to teach courses in Statistics and Calculus
for this Fall.) I'll also be looking for new projects that can
benefit both me and my newly-found friends and colleagues at Salisbury.
Publication News!
The third editions of Getting Started with Mathematica
and Getting Started with Maple have already appeared
this year. The Second Edition of An Introduction to Analysis,
with Paul Thie and Gerald Bilodeau, is scheduled to be in print
no later than August 1, 2009. See my publications
page for more information.
