About the DVD

In the span of time dating from slavery in this country we have witnessed a transformation of a racial epithet. Its usage today is far more frequent and its meanings far more complex. Some argue that its meaning and intent are the same as before others argue that it has changed as a term of endearment. Whether you agree or disagree come join a conversation about the implications of its uses today and in the past. During their conversation they delve into the complex context of its use today and the meanings of these problematic contexts.

Randall Kennedy, legal scholar and author of Nigger the Story of A Troublesome Word, Tricia Rose, culture critic, professor at the University of California Santa Cruz and author of Black Noise, and Tim Wise, white privilege activist and author of Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son, will all be serving on a panel moderated by Boston College History Professor Dr. Davarian Baldwin.

All proceeds go to the Resurrection Lutheran Church Youth Program in Roxbury. Money will be used for youth scholarships to college.
