Welcome to the website of Megan DeLaney! I teach children in K1 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mission Grammar School in Roxbury, Massachusetts. I received a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Xavier University, and currently I am completing my M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction at Boston College. Article 1: Hart, B. & Risely, T. R. (2003). The Early Catastrophe: The 30 Million Word Gap by Age 3. American Educator, 27 (1), 4-9.

This article is about a study conducted on children's vocabulary from birth to age 3, and how the size of their vocabulary could impact future learning.

 

Article 2: Kaiser, B. & Rasminsky, J. S. (2003). Opening the Culture Door. Young Children, 58 (4), 53-56.

"Opening the Culture Door" discusses the important role educators have in striving to understand the various cultures which their students come from, as well as collaborating with families of these students to deepen cultural awareness.

 

Article 3: Isenberg, J. P. & Quisenberry, N. (2002). Play: Essential for all Children. A Position Paper of the Association for Childhool Education International. Childhood Education, 79 (1), 33-39.

This article presents ideas on the importance of play in children's lives and how it greatly contributes to a child's learning.
