Note: Many of the documents contained herein require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print. If you open a document and are asked to find Acrobat Reader, there is a copy in the Eaglenet Resources folder. If you need to install a copy on your computer, you may download a free copy from the Adobe web site.

First some information about MT105. Here is the course description as given in the Mathematics Department Calculus Course Descriptions web page:

MT105 is a second course in the calculus of one variable intended for Chemistry, Computer Science/BS, Geology/Geophysics, Mathematics, and Physics majors. It is offered only in the Fall semester, and is designed to meet the needs of students who have completed a year of Calculus in high school at either the AB or BC curriculum level -- most of whom have received AP credit for Calculus -- but who are not yet prepared to advance to MT202 Multivariable Calculus.

The first third of the course will be a review of the primary techniques and interesting applications of integration. The last two-thirds of the course provide a solid introduction to the topics of infinite sequences and series (the topics which constitute the difference between the AB and BC curriculum). Other topics (polar coordinates, elementary differential equations) may be introduced, as time permits.

Second, here is the schedule for my two Sections of MT105.

Class Schedule:

Section 01:  Lecture MWF 9, Fulton Hall 110.

Section 02:  Lecture MWF 11, Fulton Hall 145.   (Note:  this room is changed from Fulton 245.)

Third, here are the dates of the exams.  Please note that full information about the grading policy for this course may be found in the syllabus (see link above).

Hour Exam Dates: Tentatively scheduled for Friday, October 7, 2005 and Friday, November 11, 2005.

The Final Examination for Section 01 is on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 12:30 p.m
The Final Examination for Section 02 is on Wednesday December 14, 2005 at 12:30 p.m

Important: The date and time of the final examinations are fixed by the Registrar and may not be changed.  Note that you MUST attend the final examination for the Section that you are registered in.  Students in Section 01 who wish to take the earlier examination can not be accomodated.  Purchasing an early ticket home will require you to purchase a second ticket.

SOME MATH LINKS

Most of my math links have been incorporated into the math department's website.  One I particularly wish to call your attention to is the Association for Women in Mathematics.  This association supports women in mathematics at all levels of study. The "AWM Resources" link connects you to many other sites with useful information.  Besides this, they sponsor an annual essay contest and I would very much like to encourage individuals from our class to participate.  Please click on the "essay contest" link on the left-hand side of their website.
