Welcome to the MT817 course website.  This website is the primary way for you to get information about our course, including the homework assignments. It also contains the syllabus.


Essential information: 

Class meets:  M, W, F from 11-11:50 a.m. in Campion Hall 303.

Hour Exam Dates (tentative): Monday February 25 and Monday April 14.  

The Final Examination will be a cumulative written in-class examination.  It will take place on Thursday May 8 at 9 a.m.  This date and time are fixed by the university and may not be changed.

My office hours are M, W, F 9-10 in Carney 317.  I am also happy to make an appointment to see you at another time.  Please feel free to contact me by email (friedber@bc.edu) or phone (617-552-3002) to make such an appointment.

2. The Association for Women in Mathematics supports women in mathematics at all levels of study. The "AWM Resources" link connects you to many other sites with useful information.  They also sponsor an annual biography contest concerning contemporary women mathematicians.  See the website for details. 

3.  The American Mathematical Society is the primary professional organization concerned with research in theoretical mathematics.  The Mathematical Association of America is concerned with this and also with university teaching.
