Description: Based on extended individual interviews with over 50 teachers in Ontario elementary and secondary schools, as well as complementary focus group discussions, this project has investigated the causes, configurations and consequences of teachers' emotions in their work - especially in response to educational change. The project has generated a new theoretical framework of emotional geographies of teaching to describe the forms of distance and closeness that shape or break the basic bonds of interaction between teachers and others that underpin school effectiveness.
