In Memory of Cinnamon
August 15, 1995-June 2, 2006

My beloved Cockerspaniel Cinnamon died at the young age of 11. He had cancer and seeing him suffer those last couple of weeks was heartbreaking. The only decent thing to do was to have him put to sleep.
I adopted him 11 years ago from the Cocker Spaniel Rescue. He has brought us such joy and love over the years.
I know he is now in a better place over Rainbow Bridge.
Here are some pics of my cat Patches. ..endearingly nicknamed "Fatty".
I found him wandering around the parking lot at the Stop and Shop 6 years ago. He wasn't a feral, but a domesticated cat who had just been thrown away like yesterday's trash. He was about 2 years old at that time. The vet can tell the approximate age of a cat by looking at their teeth.

What is a feral cat?
A feral cat is a cat who has either been born in the wild or is the result of abandonment, allowing them to breed uncontrolled.
There are many cat colonies that are maintained by volunteers. A maintained cat colony is one where all the cats that reside within that area have been Trapped, Neutered, and Returned. (TNR) They are typically fed twice a day.
Some kittens if caught early enough, can become domesticated. It takes practice, perseverance and time to make this happen and the more time they are in the wild, the harder it is to domesticate them.
Buddy Dog Humane Society had a dog house that had been given to them. They couldn't use it and basically wanted it off their propery. I thought this would be a wonderful shelter for our cat colony. I then called Metro West Humane Society and a nice gentleman revamped it and put some insulation in it, making it warm for the cats. He also made the opening small enough, so that it would deter skunks and raccoons from getting in. The cats love it and it holds about 6 cats comfortably.
The feeding station we bought was made by a gentleman who makes these durable shelters for ferals in his spare time.
