Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) lived most of his life at his home in Concord Ma., which is now a National Historic Register landmark. This is where he wrote most of his famous essays like The American Scholar and Self-Reliance. He is possibly America’s best known thinker, led most of his life by searching to realize the great potential of the individual person, to understand the proper role of the individual in contemporary society at the time, and to celebrate the sacredness of all life. The Emerson House will remain a national landmark for one of this country’s greatest scholars.

The Emerson house is located in Concord Ma, and can be reached from Boston by taking route 2 to Concord Center. There are many signs that will direct to the house. Cambridge Turnpike is located near Concord center and the house is opposite The Concord Museum.
