General Information About the Conference

Meeting Location:

Boston Marriott Copley Place, 110 Huntington Avenue, Boston. Conference sessions and registration will take place in the hotel, in conference rooms on the 3rd floor (with the exception of sessions #64 and #65 to be held in rooms on the 5th floor). The plenary sessions which will take place on the 4th floor of the hotel. Located in the heart of Boston's historic Back Bay area, the Boston Marriott Copley Place offers easy access to the city's cultural and tourist sites, shopping and entertainment.

Overnight Hotel Room Rates:

Rooms at the Boston Marriott Copley Place have been reserved for the nights of Thursday, December 11, Friday, December 12, and Saturday, December 13 at the discounted group rate of $110.00 per night (double or single). In order to receive this discount, you must identify yourself as a NEASECS/Boston College conference participant when making your reservation. Please be aware that there are several Boston Marriott hotels and that conference activities and reserved hotel rooms are only at the "Copley Place" Marriott. Reservations must be made by November 20, 1997. To make a reservation, call 617-236-5800 or toll free 1-800-228-9290. Stay at the hotel includes use of an indoor pool, full-service health club, sauna, and whirlpools.

Registration Information:

To pre-register for the conference, complete and return the registration form mailed with this program. Pre-registered participants may pick up their packets, and others may register, at the Registration Desk which will be located in the Regis room on the 3rd floor of the Marriott Hotel, beginning Thursday, December 11, 1997.

NEASECS Membership:

All participants in the conference are required to be members of the NEASECS organization. To join NEASECS (or to renew your membership), send a $10.00 check payable to NEASECS, along with your name, institutional affiliation, and the address to which newsletters and conference registration information should be mailed, to: Roger D. Lund, NEASECS Secretary-Treasurer, Department of English, LeMoyne College, Syracuse, NY 13214.

Banquet Dinner:

All registered members are invited to attend a special banquet dinner at the "57" Restaurant, located at the nearby Radisson Hotel (Ballroom 1). There will be a guest speaker, a choice of entrees, and a cash bar. Directions to the "57" Restaurant will be distributed in the registration packets. Graduate students are encouraged to attend, and may take advantage of a reduced price.

Book Exhibit:

There will be a publishers' book exhibit on Friday and Saturday from 8:00am to 4:30pm in the Regis room on the 3rd floor.

Transportation:

The Marriott Copley Place is located in Copley Square, near the Copley subway T stop. Just four miles from Boston's Logan International Airport, the hotel is accessible by taxi, commercial limousine, or public transportation. By subway: take the Blue Line of the T from the airport to Government Center station and change for the Green Line (outbound) to Copley Station. The Marriott is also located near the Back Bay Amtrak train and commuter rail station. If driving into Boston, take the Massachusetts Turnpike east to Exit 22, Copley Square.

Parking:

Parking is difficult in downtown Boston. We recommend using public transportation or taxis. Pay parking is available at the Marriott from Copley Place Parking. Overnight parking costs $22. For further information on parking rates in this location, call 617-369-5025.
