Research

In our laboratory in the Biology Department, we study a protein carboxyl methyltransferase that is postulated to play a role in the repair of proteins that have been spontaneously damaged during the aging process. We are using both biochemical and genetics models in our research to more precisely define the physiological function of the methyltransferase.

Teaching

BI 142 - The Genetic Century, a genetics course designed for students who are not majoring in the sciences.

Advanced laboratory courses that introduce students to original research in biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology. The focus of these courses are methionine sulfoxide enzymes in the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Visit our course website.
