Accented letters Hold down the option key and strike the letter e, then release the  option key and type the vowel (capital or lower case) that you need (you will not see anything appear until you type the vowel).
Two dots over a ü
 Hold down the option key and strike the letter u, then release the option key and type the letter u. (Capital or lower case.)
Tilde (ñ) Hold down the option key and strike the letter n, then release the option key and type the letter n.
¿ Hold down the shift key and the option key while striking the ? key.
¡ Hold down the option key while striking the ! key.

Here are a list of key stroke combinations for Microsoft word:

You can also reset the shortcut keys to your own preferences. If you are using Microsoft Word for Windows, go to the Insert menu and select Symbol. Make sure that the little font box is set to Normal Text. You can click on any accented letter you want or the Spanish punctuation marks.

If you want to see the codes for other characters and languages, click on the start menu (bottom left of the computer screen) and scroll up to Programs. Then choose Accessories, and from there System Tools, and finally Character Map. You will see a pop-up window. Make sure the font you want is selected and then you can click on the item, or copy down the keystroke shortcut (bottom right of pop-up window) for future reference.
Word Perfect on a PC
Type Control+w and you will get a pop-up Symbol screen. For the font, choose Multinational, and you will see all sorts of accented letters and European punctuation that you can click on to insert.
