Introduction

Good writing is engaging and articulate, incorporating one’s individual voice. For young writers, the writing process is often a mysterious art rather than a craft to be honed. The objective of any piece of writing is to engage the reader through a clear thesis, proper grammar, and meaningful prose. Put in another way: writing is less the expression of oneself than the expression of oneself clearly and vividly.

This same objective guides our course: To learn to write clearly and vividly, incorporating one’s individual voice. The most important way a writer does this is through revision.
