Hassan Tehranian

Hassan Tehranian is the Griffith Millennium Chair in Finance at Boston College. He is also a Professor and Chairperson of Finance Department and Director of Center for Asset Management at Wallace E. Carroll School of Management at Boston College. Professor Tehranian received his BS degree from the Iranian Institute of Advanced Accounting and his MBA and Ph.D. degrees in Finance from the University of Alabama. Professor Tehranian is the founder of the Graduate Finance Program at Boston College (MSF and Ph.D.), which he served as the Executive Director from 1986 to 2002. In 1993, Professor Tehranian co-founded and served as the president of the American Institute of Advanced Finance (AIAF), a Boston-based CFA review program, which was acquired by Kaplan Educational Centers in 1999. He has taught CFA review courses for several years.

Professor Tehranian has teaching and research interests in the areas of corporate finance, investments, the effect of deregulation on the structure and efficiency of the banking industry, and portfolio analysis. He has published widely in the fields of portfolio performance, management compensation, bank mergers, government deregulation, and securities return distribution. His research has been published in a variety of scholarly journals including the American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Accounting Research, Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Money Credit and Banking, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Contemporary Accounting Research, Review of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial Services Research, Financial Review, Journal of American Statistic Association, International Journal of Transport Economics, and the Journal of Financial Research.

Professor Tehranian is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of Economics and Business, Review of Financial Economics and the Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics. Dr. Tehranian is currently a member of the Financial Management Association, the American Finance Association, and the Western Finance Association. Professor Tehranian has extensive experience teaching executive courses and has been engaged in a variety of management consulting activities to local and national firms.
