We are possibly the first research group to successfully capture coyotes in box traps. There will be a future pdf (adobe acrobat) link to our Wildlife Society Bulletin article (tentatively accepted) on box trapping coyotes on Cape Cod. For now, here are some pictures on the box trapping process. Also, visit the education link for a powerpoint demonstration on box trapping and for curricula materials.
The following are select pictures of coyotes captured on Cape Cod in box traps:
Coyote "Sog", a large 42-pound female captured this past winter. She was hit and killed by a car off Cape. She made it across the Cape Cod canal then got hit by a car 2 miles north of the Bourne Bridge.

Cake, a small 30 pound female that came awake during handling (hence her name).
