DREW YANNO
has been writing for film since 1993 and has been a member of the Writers Guild of America since 1995.
In 1994, his first script Banca’s Raviolis was a finalist in the inaugural Massachusetts Film Office Screenwriting Competition.  One year later he sold his action/adventure script No Safe Haven to Universal Studios.  The screenplay was the subject of a bidding war and sold in less than eight hours.

Since then, Drew has written scripts ranging from romantic comedy to neo-noir to historical.  His latest is a sports drama.

Drew has been teaching screenwriting in the Film Studies Department at Boston College since September 2000.  He has also taught a variety of workshops, most recently through Grub Street, a not-for-profit, independent writing center based in Boston.  A number of Drew’s former students have optioned their scripts, won screenwriting competitions, and have worked or are currently working in television and film in Hollywood.

Drew has appeared on several television and radio shows to discuss films and screenwriting.  He and his work have been featured in Daily Variety, the Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Weekly, along with numerous other magazines and newspapers.  He has also appeared as a panelist at various film and screenwriting events in and around the Boston area.

Drew's book The Third Act: Writing a Great Ending to Your Screenplay (Continuum 2006) is available in bookstores and on Amazon.

In addition to writing and teaching, Drew works as a script consultant and has served as an advisor on a number of films.

Prior to becoming a screenwriter and screenwriting professor, Drew was a practicing attorney and taught law in the Wallace E. Carroll School of Management at Boston College.

He lives in the greater Boston area with his wife and daughter.
