"Those who have nothing can share nothing. Those who are going nowhere can have no fellow-travelers." --C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
"Properly speaking, the Inklings was neither a club nor a literary society, though it partook the nature of both. There were no rules, officers, agendas or formal elections." --Warren Lewis, brother of Clive Staples
The Inklings was an informal literary discussion group which met at a pub at the University of Oxford which consisted of notable authors such as Charles Williams, J.R.R. Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis. Quite often, they would discuss literature they had read and literature that they themselves were in the midst of writing. Many would go on to produce some of the better known literary works of this century.
The Inklings at Boston College are no different. We recognize that all of us are in the midst of penning our own literary stories. We take this chance once a week to sit down and read the pages we've set down, to discuss them with our friends, in the hopes that together we may write the most amazing, unique, and powerful pages in the story we call "life".
Currently, we are going through the writings of C.S. Lewis, one of the original Inklings, as we go through one of the greatest Christian literary thinkers of our time, and see what he has to offer. We will learn to agree, disagree, and discuss reflectively and seriously. Also, we will understand better than most, that fun, humor, and pure enjoyment of each other's company is one of the most serious and important issues that life has to offer.
I'm gonna try to make this website look more exciting.
