NURSING PROCESS FOR CLINICAL REASONING FUNCTIONAL HEALTH PATTERNS AND NURSING DIAGNOSIS
This case study helps you to learn what and how data about a client/patient is presented in functional health pattern format. Next, you learn to analyze that data to differentiate between expected changes of aging and disease, between function and dysfunction. In the case, you, as a professional nurse, are meeting an older adult woman who has recently moved into a residence that offers adult day care. The objective of the interaction is a decision making process about the eligibilty and potential benefits of admission to this day care program for the client. Your analysis of this data helps you fulfill course objectives:
#3 Describe expected patterns of human physical, cognitive and psychoscocial development according to the major developmental theorists.
#8 Demonstrate the functional health patterns as a means of generating data.
#10 Discuss interpretation of data within the parameters of health and human development, the cultural/environmental context, and the NANDA framework for Nursing Diagnosis.
#11 Demonstrate the clinical reasoning process by analyzing selected cases.
