Short Bio

Matteo Iacoviello is an assistant director and section chief in the Division of the International Finance of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. He currently serves as an associate editor of the Review of Economic Dynamics and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking. In the past, he has served as a consultant for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, the IMF, the ECB, and the Bank of Canada.

Iacoviello's research interests are in macroeconomics, monetary economics, and international finance. His latest research has focused on the solution and estimation of models with occasionally binding constraints, the macroeconomic implications of geopolitical risk, and the linkages between housing price movements and business cycles.

Prior to joining the Federal Reserve Board in 2010, Iacoviello was from 2002 to 2009 a professor of economics at Boston College. He has also taught at Georgetown University, the Catholic University of Milan, and the University of Milan. Iacoviello holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the London School of Economics, a Ph.D. in Economic Theory and Institutions from the University of Bologna, and an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
