The Beat Generation
this disorganized group of free thinkers, tired of working for 'the man' citizens, and country-wandering philosophers, may seem to have been just a group of bums living in the 50's, but regardless of whether or not you believe that the beats were admirable figures of life, they undoubtably brought some of the most unique literary styles into 20th century american prose and poetry.  here i've compiled some useful links to the more famous beats in an attempt to highlight the message this generation was trying to convey to their society and the inspiration that they have left for future generations.
