Fight Club

Fight Club, if you haven't heard of it, is a novel by Chuck Palahniuk. Published in 1996, it was made into a film in 1999 starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Helena Bonham Carter. It focuses on the anonymous narrator who, because of the stresses of his job (he's a product recall specialist), begins to suffer from prolonged bouts of insomnia. After visiting support groups for illnesses he doesn't have and meeting another "tourist" named Marla Singer, his stresses peak with the unexplained explosion of his condo. The narrator's subsequent relationship with Tyler Durden, their Fight Club, and later, Project Mayhem, all serve to teach the narrator about what he's really running from: himself.
