I was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1985-89. I went to boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina 3rd Recruit Training Btl. After that I went to Infantry Training School at Camp Gieger. Instead of going to an Infantry unit I was selected for Sea Duty and went to Sea School in San Diego, Ca. My first brief assignment was on the USS Eisenhower (CVN-69). After two short months I was transferred to the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). I spent just over two years as a member of the Marine Detachment. In 1987 I received orders to report to Camp Lejuene NC to the 3rd Btl. 6th Marines. I served with the 6th Marines for 10 months and was transferred to 3rd Btl. 4th Marines. This Regiment was deactivating at the time and all the Marines were being transferred. We received word that a reinforced company of Marines would be needed to be deployed to Panama during the most troubled time in that nation's history. I volunteered and was transferred to 3rd Btl. 8th Marines and I deployed to Panama in August of 1988. Below are some of the pictures that were taken during that time.
