Abstract: Dehn surgery on a knot K' in S^3 produces a dual knot K in the
surgered manifold M. What can be said about the bridge number of K with respect
to a Heegaard splitting of M? We'll first overview some known results and our
new results about the boundedness of bridge number when the surgery slope has
large distance from the meridian of K'. For contrast we'll then discuss
Teragaito's infinite family of knots where +4 surgery on each produces the same
small Seifert fibered space and the bridge numbers of their duals.
