Callahan, Paul [Paul.Callahan@FMR.COM]
Dear Friends & Family:
On July 11, 2008, I will take part in a 22–mile relay team, with a few of my colleagues from Fidelity Investments, for Swim Across America (SAA). We will swim from Rowes Wharf in downtown Boston, out among the Boston Harbor Islands and finish back at Rowes Wharf. I need your help!
Swim Across America is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming- related events. With the help of hundreds of volunteers nationwide, SAA is helping find a cure for cancer through athleticism, community outreach and direct service.
Since its inception in 1987, SAA has raised over $20 million nationally
for recognized beneficiaries.
This is a very special group of recreational, Masters and Olympic swimmers who will be taking the day off from work to swim for cancer research. While this may seem like an extreme effort, it is nothing compared to the struggle cancer patient's face every day.
You have the chance to help others bring the cure closer and support me in my swimming efforts with a donation. If you can help, please send in your tax-deductible contribution as soon as possible.
You can make a donation on my behalf by going to my personal web-page (Please select the "Click here to Support Me" link in the upper right hand corner):
Or you can make checks payable to Swim Across America or the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute & send them to me at the following address:
115 Beacon Street, Apt #4
Boston, MA 02116
If you're unable to help, I always welcome your good wishes and positive thoughts to help with my training to finish the swim. Please feel free to forward this along to anyone who may be interested in supporting this good cause.
I hope all of you are having a great summer and look forward to seeing
Thanks for your support!

I sent Paul a reply and got such an informative response - I have added it here
Thanks so much Tom!! It was great to see you last month as well.
I appreciate you posting the email on the alumni web-page. The more I can get the word out there - the better. I've been hitting the pool a lot over the last month - so I should be ready to go come Jul 11. I'm really looking forward to it.
I hope your summer has been going well and I hope to see you in the fall at a football game.
PS - I've run into Caroline Griffith and John Hartigan at my gym - both seem to be doing well.
Caroline also told me that Cathleen Blaston just had her 2nd baby - so she now has a boy and a girl. I also saw Pam Foschi at the beginning of June and she is pregnant with her 2nd and due in early Oct.
I was up in Salem this weekend for Greg Dwyer's 30th bday (he and Alexis Kostopoulos Dwyer are having a baby in Dec) and I got to hang out with Brendan Wright (and his wife - who is expecting their 2nd in Nov) and Brianne Sullivan was up from NYC as well. She has taken up the hobby of Irish Dancing and is hoping to perform in a few events this fall.
